A self-described "post-discipline" artist guided by Zen thought and postmodern aesthetics, David Ireland was a beacon of artistic practice and conceptual action. Through his great fame and talent he gave a face to Bay Area Conceptual Art. His practice was a direct reflection of living and working in San Francisco and Oakland area.
